Apartment makeover: part 4

It's the back porch's turn to get a spruce-up.
The before:
Thanks Ikea.
The inspiration:
The results:
Aside from not finding lanterns, I'm quite happy with it so far. I mean, did you see the before? Now, this is where everyone ends up when friends come over.

Apartment makeover: part 3

Small change this time.
We tried to use some really, really old plaint to add a splash of color to our bathroom. All inspired by the classiest of hot pink flamingos shower curtain. Old oil based paint that was practically water + title= it didn't go well.

And yes, our bathroom is floor to ceiling tile. Painted. Even the door, so when you close it, it's like being in a fun house side show.
So I got a tester that seemed to be closer to the color we wanted. It went surprisingly well, despite the manly men of Home Depot telling me it wasn't possible with just paint.

Home improvements: I make it up as I go along.

Apartment makeover: part 2

Part two in an ongoing re-design of the apartment. Today: after shots of my one-woman paint excursion. It was slightly terrifying to paint the higher bits using our rickety ladder. But it looks nice in the end.
and after!
I really do need to start buying furniture.

Apartment makeover: part 1

In need of feeling like an adult, and to make my apartment more like a cozy home. Plus, I really just love painting.
First up: my bedroom. Just recently moved into after Ashlee and Dan moved out.
Before shots. I really need to buy furniture.

 Armed and ready!
More coming soon. Including my big back porch project.

in which it is NOT spring

Welcome to the first day of spring in Chicago....
Yepe. Snow. And we were doing so well this week.
Odd angle of my new wee room. It's green!!
Three bedrooms. Four people. And FIVE cats. But only Nancy sits still long enough(and is my unofficial room protector while I'm away) to have her picture taken.
And remember, that one time I crocheted a blanket? Definitely came in handy today. Yeah bad webcam shot!
The pattern was the TV Blanket in the Happy Hooker but since I used scrap yarn it's more of a hodge podge rainbow broken TV blanket.
