Out and about and armed with a camera phone

Sometimes I take pics on my camera. Usually when something amuses me.
So I present, the last couple of weeks in my life via random pictures.
Me vs. the Metra.
 Great shirt or greatest shirt?
 I don't know what's going on here.
 A trip to Borders.

I love the covers for these with their fake titles. My favorite was the second cover that says "What to think when he thinks you're thinking."
Bonus non-phone photo cause I wanted to share the spoils of my most recent Target trip.

Geektastic Thursday: Trust your Doctor

I can't help but make these short. Mainly cause I get excited to the point that I can't concentrate or form real sentences. Seriously, it's like giving a child free reign of Chuck E Cheese after a breakfast of cake and milkshakes.
I'll try my best to not fall on the caps lock key.
I'm super anxious and pumped and a million other adjectives, for Doctor Who to come back tomorrow! And also that they're getting recognized so much this side of the pond that this happens!
CAN. NOT. WAIT!

On a sad note.
I was gutted to hear about Elizabeth Sladen dying. I remember when I was younger and occasionally watched Doctor Who on PBS, and while I didn't understand half of what was going on, I loved her and secretly wanted to be like Sarah Jane when I grew up. And still kind of do.

We were promised Spring

Yeah. So this is what Chicago woke up to this morning.
Snow then rain.
Not cool Mother Nature. Not cool.

Geektastic Thursday: Hobbits and Dwarves and swords, oh my!

I apologize for any stumbling over words from excitement.
But they finally started The Hobbit!!
Look!

Word cannot express how happy I am right now.

Neil Gaiman makes me want to write again

I went to a talk with my sister, Heather, given by the CPL for their One Book One Chicago. They're doing Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, who was one of the speakers, along with Audrey Niffengger (the Time Traveler's Wife).
It was amazing! I almost cried when he came out, and again when he talked about Terry Prattchet.
My favorite part was when he talked about writer's block, and how he believed it was just a writer just needing to take a step back to solve whatever writing problem their is by looking at the work from a non-writer perspective.
Anyways. It all made me want to get back into writing. I might even buy a desk and everything. We'll see how it goes.
Some swag he signed. Well, technically, "pre-signed" since there were far too many people for him to sit down and sign them on the spot. BUT STILL! He touched them. I now have them!
The signed Neverwhere is for Ashlee since she couldn't make it and it's her favorite book. Heather got The Graveyard Book. Pretty stocked about all of them. I haven't read Annasi Boys yet.

Now for some badly taken shots of the man of the night. Funny how the clearest one has a head blocking Audrey. An't that always the way it goes?

Geektastic Thursday: zombies on board

Or inferi, if you're a Harry Potter nut like me.
So this is me piming my band, Dreary Inferi. We sing about characters who've dies in HP. They're surprisingly upbeat songs. I play electric guitar.
And we craft. A lot.
This is gonna be on a new t-shirt we're doing. This actual print came as an accident when I was testing the best way to screen print.
More experimenting with stenciling.

Susan made these for her niece and nephew.
And Ashlee is a pro at making pendants.
