case of the Mondays

Not really. Just stuck for a better title.
But I did wake up to find out I've been included in a treasury on Etsy! Excite!

Happy Monday!!

Saturday Nerd Find

In a couple of weeks I'm heading up to Capricon (pretty stoked!) And we're planning to do it right by having costumes, one of which will be steampunk inspired.
So in scouring the internetfor inspiration, I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this.
Look familiar?
They even market it for the books/character, which is awesome.
It amused me, so I wanted to share.
Also, Clockwork Couture is an awesome store if you're into steampunk.

what a way to make a living

Yesterday was my first day of work!
Well, technically, it was orientation. Lots of speakers and explaining what everyone does and paperwork and all that other fun stuff.
Today. Today will be my first actual day of work. Part excited, part anxious. Fingers crossed I don't do anything embarrassing or completely wrong.
This is my freaking-out-I-hope-I'm-good-at-this face.
Also, the color scheme for the company is the same as my room. So that's cool.

Geektastic Thursday: About a Boy

It's on my mind cause I finally bought it with some Christmas money I had left over. And I couldn't be more excited.
I love this movie. Maybe it's Nick Hornby. Maybe it's one of very few times I'm irked by Hugh Grant. Maybe it's the overall charm of everything about it. I don't know. I love it and am always telling people to watch it.
And no, there's not a lot of crafty things related to it. Though I do think Marcus' hat and scarf are pretty easy to find patterns. Vertical stripe scarf and zig-zagy type ear flap hat. Alpaca Earflaps comes pretty close and possibly the Stripes (and Stripes) Forever from The Happy Hooker for the scarf.
See? I brought it back around.
I would have embedded a video of him singing Shake Ya Ass or Killing Me Softly, but YouTube is not in a sharing sort of mood today.
Can we also talk about how Nicholas Hoult grew up to be a pretty attractive? Cause, that happened.
I still need to see A Single Man. I hear tell he gets friendly with one Mr. Colin Firth. Which I'm all for.

dropping the ball

I keep forgetting to update, cause, well, not much has been going on. Just filling out a lot of paper work for my new job and a whole lot of watching...
I'm halfway through 7. I keep watching it alone at night, which is not the best idea. And I know what's gonna happen in just a tiny bit, and I'm not looking forward to it. But I still love this show. I'm gonna be sad when I'm finished with it.

I'm also thinking of doing another 50 books this year. I got my roomie/best friend Ashlee into it and she's about three books in and so now I'm jonesing to do it again. Which means I should hit up a used book store or start frequenting the library since I'm down to my last ten or so books on my shelf. We'll see how the next couple of weeks go. As always, I'd love some recommendations on books.

On a useless update note: I finished Lego Harry Potter the other day. It was kinda lame by the end. As if a lego game could be anything but.

Knitting, TV, and reading. My last week of idle hermit living has been going quite smoothly, if I do say so myself.

Redesigning

Short update.
I've decided to slightly revamp this blog. Got a new layout, new names for the blog and Etsy store.Starting to plan out new projects and items to add to the store and such.
Oh! And on an unrelated note, I got a job! I'm now a quality assurance...person at Groupon. I start in little over a week and I'm stoked to have an actual, permanent, adult-like job. It has a salary and everything.
So yeah.
Pretty awesome way to start the weekend.

look mum, a craft post!

I'm still working out all my possible goals for this year. Some silly, some serious business.
But I have decided to finally use all the Sugar N' Cream yarn that failed to make a top last year.

I'm pretty stoked about the new project.

And almost sure I'll be dying the sweater afterwards, cause I'm not liking the bright yellow as much. I've been looking up dying already colored cotton, and I think I'm going to add either green for a lime-yellow-ish sort of color, or grey to tone down the yellow.
I'd love it to be purple, but not sure if bleaching then dying will work with the yarn. And adding purple will just make it brown. Do not want.
Any advice? My sister's probably gonna be tired of me constantly asking for basic color chart advice.
